Minerals, Herbs and Human Health

Welcome to Healthy Living on Supreme Master Television. Today we will explore how medicinal minerals benefit our health and well-being. Minerals are among the basic elements found in nature. Essential minerals help the human body to function properly. For example, boron keeps the teeth and bones healthy and also helps in the metabolism. Calcium is essential in blood clotting and also regulates intercellular signaling and muscle contraction. Chromium aids in achieving insulin and glucose (sugar) tolerance. Cobalt is found in Vitamin B12. Copper is noteworthy for its role in the formation of hemoglobin, helps with the absorption and use of iron and is responsible for healthy skin and hair color. Fluoride helps prevent cavities and also plays a vital role in maintaining healthy bones and teeth.

Iodine is contained in the hormones thyroxine or T4 and triiodothyronine or T3. Iron is contained in cytochromes, myoglobin and hemoglobin. Magnesium is present mainly in our bones and its main role is to regulate the electrical potentials in nerve and muscle cells. Phosphorus is a mineral located in our bones and teeth that plays a key role in energy metabolism. Potassium is responsible for heart muscle activity, metabolism and protein synthesis. Its major role is in fluid and electrolyte balance.

Selenium is required for proper heart function and notably prevents some cancers. Sodium is found in extra-cellular fluid. Sulfur is required for energy metabolism and enzyme function and also helps with physical detoxification. Zinc is an Enzyme and enzymes and plays a role in the body’s transcription factors, which control the transfer of genetic information. The body has an innate ability to heal itself, but modern medicine often treats symptoms without addressing this self-healing capacity and the root causes of disease. Minerals contained in medicinal herbs can be used to treat these underlying causes, and for thousands of years have been used successfully around the world to enhance wellness and prevent illness. Being rich in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants, these herbs help rejuvenate and heal the body. Disease is brought on by inner factors such as imbalances in the body, mind or spirit and outward influences including diet, environment, pollution, smoking and meat consumption. Thus, herbal remedies are wonderful ways to detoxify and cleanse the body, help boost the immune system and provide vibrant health and well-being.

Many medicinal herbs are very high in anti-oxidants, which play a key role in our innate healing processes and help to strengthen the immune system. A recent study shows that the herb oregano, for example, has 42 times more antioxidant activity than apples, 30 times more than potatoes, 12 times more than oranges and 4 times more than blueberries.

Here are some of types of medicinal herbs along with brief descriptions of their common use: Valerian Root is a common remedy for anxiety and insomnia, Echinacea builds resistance to colds, flu and viruses, Aloe Vera is a natural skin cleanser and antiseptic for wounds, Ginkgo Biloba aids in reducing asthma and is an anti-inflammatory agent, Burdock Root stimulates healthy hair and naturally purifies the blood, and Dong Quai root helps heal ulcers.

Welcome back to Healthy Living on Supreme Master Television. We will now explore the healing properties of clay on today’s show introducing natural minerals that are important to overall health.

The importance of nutrients and minerals found in soil is reflected in the medicinal qualities of clay. One of the most effective natural cleansers is a medicinal powder called “montmorillonite,” a name that comes from a city in France where it was discovered. Mineralogists use the term “smectite” to describe the same substance. However, the ancient practice of consuming clay to absorb toxins has been successfully used by indigenous peoples for thousands of years.

This special clay is made from deposits containing a high level of healing minerals from weathered volcanic ash deposits. The clay acts as an adhesive to remove excess waste and toxins while providing vital nutrients and passing through the body undigested, making it special. The clay adsorbs toxins such as heavy metals, free radicals and pesticides. After attracting these substances to its “sticky” surface, it removes them from the body just like a sponge. Due to medicinal clay’s special adhesive qualities, it has a large range of healing properties such as eliminating painful cysts or tumors attached to joints and tendons. Clay has many other benefits as well, such as promoting intestinal regularity and relieving chronic constipation, diarrhea, indigestion and ulcers. Other positive effects include increased physical energy, clearer complexion, brighter, whiter eyes, enhanced alertness, emotional uplift, improved tissue and gum repair and increased resistance to infections. With proper instructions, the correct type of clay may be used once a year for “spring cleaning” or detox. It may also be used to provide a multitude of benefits including intestinal parasite removal, allergy and hay fever relief and elimination of acne and anemia (an iron deficiency). From a medical perspective clay helps anemia because it contains both types of dietary iron (ferrous and ferric) in an easily assimilated form; it reduces discomfort from allergies by quickly neutralizing allergens that would otherwise produce allergic reactions; and it reduces heartburn and indigestion by absorbing excess stomach acids. Based on information by Keith Payne of White Rock Mineral Corporation in Utah, medicinal clay’s primary role is to cleanse the colon. As the colon becomes cleaner, its ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients increases, making the minerals even more available to the body, thus giving more energy. And now, let us take a look the Himalayan Goji berry, which has a 3,000-year history in China and other parts of Asia. Goji berries contain 18 amino acids and 21 trace minerals. Additional benefits of the berry are its high level of antioxidants, amino acids, polysaccharides, and many other nutrients which have been shown to promote many health benefits, vitality, energy, endurance, longevity, restful sleep, and a general sense of calm and well-being.

Like Goji berries, the Lo Han fruit comes from China. Dr. Denise Moffat describes the medicinal qualities of Lo Han and other natural sugar plants and herbs as follows: “The Lo Han fruit has been used by local people in southern provinces of China for centuries as a sweetener and a medicinal herb for the treatment of lung congestion, colds, sore throats, and for minor stomach and intestinal problems.” Lo Han extracts help relieve gas, constipation and respiratory inflammations, and also appear to inhibit the Epstein-Barr virus and display anti- carcinogenic properties.

Stevia rebaudiana, whose nickname is "sweet herb," helps regulate blood sugar and lower high blood pressure and allows people to reach optimum weight by decreasing the desire for sugary foods. This sweet herb is also reported to reduce the desire for tobacco and alcohol, and is used in face masks to smooth out wrinkles and heal skin blemishes and acne.

Peru Root contains a special sugar, called “oligofructose,” which cannot be absorbed by the body and contains half the calories of table sugar. An added benefit of oligofructose is that it activates beneficial bacteria in the colon, thus promoting health and wellness. Scientists say it is good for the intestines, potentially safeguards against cancer, helps absorption of calcium and vitamins, and can reduce blood sugar peaks for diabetics. Similar to vitamins, minerals play an important role in maintaining our body’s balance for overall health. Therefore, it’s essential that we obtain these vital elements through natural sources for our body’s growth, development and well-being.
