The Pig Flu - Don't Blame The Swine
Surely unless you were living in a cave for the last few months you
would be aware that the world is in the
grips of what has been called, and declared by the WHO, a pandemic.
All data we have up till now confirms that the origins of the flu
were pig farms in Mexico, although some are saying it could have
started in Texas. There is also the conspiracy side of the story which
claims it is a bioengineered virus with the aim of culling the human
population, although we are not so sure about that later.
Our opinions are that it did start in a pig farm somewhere, but we vehemently oppose
blaming the poor innocent pigs for this atrocity. On the other
hand we feel the cause of the recent
pandemic is in fact the consumers demand for 'cheap meat'. This
demand has let corporations to treat animals as if they were lifeless
beings and treat them in all kinds of inhumane and filthy ways, filling
them with antibiotics and chemicals in an effort to create the cheapest
meat available and make the largest profits possible.
This act of cruelty which goes against the
laws of nature has come full circle now, and the pigs have become a
breeding ground for super strains of bacteria and viruses, which
have now been passed to humans.
Fortunately the pig
flu virus has a low mortality rate thus far, and we hope that
changes are made quick enough to avoid any further mutations and
disease. Although the current response has been to change the name of
the swine flu to H1N1, to avoid any disruption in pork sales, and
introduce a global vaccination campaign against the virus, costing the
taxpayers billions of dollars globally. It seems a disruption in all
meat sales is exactly what is needed and we wonder what will happen if
everyone gets immunized and the virus mutates.
Although the WHO says that it is not possible to catch the pig flu from
cooked meat, what about uncooked meat? And does a person not handle the
meat before it is cooked? We would go several steps further and recommend a vegetarian
diet as the true remedy.
So far it seems that all the measures implemented
by the WHO fail to address the underlying problem, and do plenty
to protect the profits of the meat farmers. What happens if everyone
gets immunized and the virus mutates? What happens if the virus becomes
resistant to Tamiflu and other antivirals. And what happens when a new
virus or bacteria comes out? The only solution is a
new diet for the planet. A vegetarian
one. This would address the underlying problem and we would be
assured that their would never be an organic soy bean virus, it just
won't happen.
